Kickback Generation – Riptide Refugee

Born on the outskirts of some flea pit canvas town
Oppression breeds defiance, silence is the sound
First recollection of been sat on your daddy’s knee
A riptide refugee

You were never able to call a place your home
To walk it’s streets to a place where you were born
You’ve spent your life looking back, staying free
A riptide refugee

Countless generations give there lives for a piece of land
Caught up in a conflict, that the world won’t understand
Does hatred cut so deep, is it carved by another’s hand
Jerusalem

As a child you walked along these bordered shores
You watched your people die to the star that never falls
You lay alone at night, and cried for democracy
For the riptide refugees

Like driftwood on a foreign shore
Another crisis another war
Remember that the future lasts a long time
Hatred, greed  bridges burned, through history no lesson’s learned
Remember that the future lasts a long long time

You’ve seen the kingdoms rise, watched the kingdoms fall
You’ve seen the blood of children born to the battle call
No one listens in a world that doesn’t see
The riptide refugees

Can anyone out there understand
Can anyone out there see
A strip of land equates to crime
Against humanity
